Striped Sparrow

Striped sparrow. The striped sparrow is endemic to the highlands of NW and central Mexico but this individual was discovered on January 11, 2015 on CR 248 beside the San Gabriel River in Williamson County, TX. Since that time the bird has been seen by many and this series of photographs was taken at about 3:30pm on January 15. The bird is consorting with many other sparrows at the location but is usually seen only briefly. It is not known if this individual has strayed naturally from its usual habitat or is an escaped cage bird.<br />
It is a shame that the bird perched so as to have the shadow of a branch across its face, but in bird photography you get what you get.
