Black-Tailed Godwit

Female black-tailed godwit. Herewith I begin a series of pictures of the now-famous female (probable) black-tailed godwit that was discovered at the Brazoria NWR on June 3, 2012 in field flooded with rain water to a shallow depth. Many other shore and water birds were there including at least three Hudsonian godwits. The bird has now been seen and photographed by many. These photographs were taken on June 5, 2012 and the bird was still present as of mid August, 2012. The black-tailed godwit is not native to the Americas and this bird is a new sighting for the State of Texas.
